Another week is over and it’s off to the weekend we go! Here’s a number of links that caught my eye this week:
Holly Ordway reviews the new book on the Inklings, The Fellowship, for Catholic World Report. This book keeps popping up in my news feed—I really need to pick up a copy! Ordway says that “As an intellectual biography, and as an account of the Inklings as a whole, The Fellowship is very strong indeed, satisfying, engaging, and nuanced.”
While many fans of Flannery O’Connor were thrilled to see her honored with a US Postage stamp, a lot of us were less impressed with the actual design. Catholic World Report managing editor Catherine Harmon shared this post from the Farrar, Straus and Giroux “Work in Progress” blog showing a gorgeous proposed redesign. Check it out!
Catholic fantasy author Tim Powers sent out a link to this post from SF Signal about his upcoming novel Medusa’s Web. It looks very intriguing!
My kids love the Zita the Spacegirl series from Ben Hatke, so I was happy to read this glowing review of Little Robot, his upcoming graphic novel for young readers.
Last week I was visiting Seattle with my family and stopped by the great Chuck Jones exhibit at the EMP museum (the picture up top is a snap I took of one of Jones’ sketches on display), so it was fun to see this short video appreciation for his animation: The Evolution of an Artist.
Lastly, don’t miss this week’s posts here at the Ignatius Press Novels, my own piece on Hayao Miyazaki and Pope Francis, T.M. Doran on Harper Lee, and a link to a new interview with Piers Paul Read.
Have a great weekend!
