Accidental Marriage cover

Readers just can’t get enough of Roger Thomas’ new novel!

Sarah Reinhard at the National Catholic Register gives an insightful review on Roger Thomas’ The Accidental Marriage:

“Love is misunderstood so often, so it shouldn’t be surprising that so many people misunderstand marriage. Marriage isn’t just about love the feeling: It’s about love the verb, the decision, the commitment. Thomas explores that in this book, in part by turning so many things upside down. Throughout the story, Scott and Megan never “change” from their same-sex attraction. They are united because of mutual need and they each have to sacrifice for the other.” Read more here.

Mark Lardras at the Galveston Daily News also enjoyed The Accidental Marriage:

“What makes a novel groundbreaking? One factor is challenging established literary norms. Yet true norms are generally so accepted as to be invisible. After a while, even the norms challenged fall into predictable, acceptable patterns. Edgy becomes a synonym for boringly conventional. “The Accidental Marriage,” a novel by Roger B. Thomas, is unconventional. Indeed, it turns modern convention on its head in an unpredictably original way… What follows is an exploration of loyalty, responsibility, and partnership… “The Accidental Marriage” is a surprising book, one that confronts readers with a thought-provoking yet entertaining story.”

Michele Faehnle at Columbus Catholic Women’s Conference gave her opinion on Thomas’ book:

“I shared before how I love to read fiction, especially Catholic fiction.   So when I was offered the opportunity to review the Ignatius Press novel The Accidental Marriage by Roger Thomas, I jumped at the opportunity.  Highly endorsed by my friend and author Sarah Reinhard as “delightfully written” and “laugh-out-loud funny” I knew I would enjoy it.  I just didn’t realize how much I would love it!  In fact, I didn’t want it to end… If you’re looking for a good book to curl up on the couch in front of your fire on these cold fall days, be sure to check out The Accidental Marriage!”

Joseph Reninger from Zombie Parent’s Guide also loved this book:

The Accidental Marriage is “discreet, sensitive, and honest. The situation isn’t played for laughs; it’s a serious look at how two people deal with the weird situations our modern culture generates. Scott and Megan are real people struggling with their decisions and trying to balance helping others with taking care of themselves…  I was curious to see where the story would go. Their recoveries from hardships seem a little too easy at times. The ending was not so surprising (especially given the title of the book) but was satisfying, mostly because Scott and Megan are interesting and real people… Overall, it’s an enjoyable book.”
